Bostonian vs Cantabrigian: a geography class…

Hi!

It’s very likely that most people would associate Harvard to Boston. And for the school I’m going to, the Harvard Business School (HBS), that statement is fully correct. However, Harvard University and the vast majority of the Harvard graduate schools are not on Boston territory, but are on Cambridge soil. And while I go to school in Boston (since going to HBS), I do live in Cambridge, the area where most of the Harvard community hangs out and resides. Here’s a little class in geography.

Boston (where Bostonians live)

Boston is a city in the North East of the US in the state of Massachusetts. It is one of the oldest cities in the US and is famous for its many schools and universities in the city and surrounding areas. Moreover, you might have heard about the Boston Celtics (one of the top NBA teams), the Red Sox (world-wide known and recognized baseball team playing at reputed Fenway Park), and the Boston Patriots (American Football) – all famous sports teams from Boston!

Cambridge (home of the Cantabrigians)

North of Boston, across the river Charles, is Cambridge, a city named after the University of Cambridge in England. Cambridge is home to two of the world’s most prominent universities, Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). While most of the Harvard community and schools are in Cambridge, HBS is south of Harvard square across the river Charles in Boston. I am a Cantabrigian, as I live at Central Square neighbourhood in Cambridge. The black dot on the map is the Harvard square neighborhood, a central point of all Harvard schools and a very lively part of Cambridge.

All of these lie within walking distance from on another. I live at a 20m walk from HBS and 15m walk to Harvard Square.

So, now that we know where I live, here’s my address:

900 Massachusetts Ave, Apt 4
Cambridge, MA
02139
USA

Below a little overview what all of this looks like. Enjoy! All pictures are home-made (thx iPhone!)
